Telling a story with your camera

Depending on your area of expertise, there may be different steps of the process that you will want to show.  You need to think about this before you begin working on the show, so that you can ensure you don’t miss any of the early steps.  Most Lighting Designers are never going to show their rough plots, but showing the steps to build a prop, costume, or set piece may be very important to the Props Designer, Cutter/Draper, or Technical Director.  If you haven’t done so already, talk with your professors and/or professionals in your field, and find out what they are going to want to see in your portfolio.  Especially when you are starting out, process is often as important as product, and you need to be able to take people on those journeys.

A must for any beginner at theater photography and would help those who are experienced in theater photography.
